On May 4, 2017, the 11.7-kilometer Cavite extension broke ground. Another ceremony was held on May 7, 2019, to mark the start of construction, although civil works began the following September 1.

As of April 30, 2024, Phase 1 is 98.2% complete, with operations expected by October 2024. Meanwhile, Phases 2 and 3 will begin operations by 2031.
