Welcome to Pujapuji! In this video, we delve into the profound teachings of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, beginning with its first shloka.

Shloka 1:

धृतराष्ट्र उवाच | धर्मक्षेत्रे कुरुक्षेत्रे समवेता युयुत्सवः | मामकाः पाण्डवाश्चैव किमकुर्वत सञ्जय ||

Translation:

Dhritarashtra said: O Sanjay, assembled in the holy land of Kurukshetra and eager for battle, what did my sons and the sons of Pandu do?

Explanation:

This opening shloka sets the stage for the epic dialogue between Lord Krishna and Arjuna. Here, King Dhritarashtra, who is blind, inquires from his charioteer, Sanjay, about the events unfolding on the battlefield of Kurukshetra. Dhritarashtra's question reflects his anxiety and concern over the war between his sons (the Kauravas) and the Pandavas.

The term "Dharmakshetra" (holy land) signifies Kurukshetra as a place of righteousness, where the great battle of dharma (duty) is about to take place. Dhritarashtra is keen to know the fate of the battle and his sons, showing his deep attachment and worry.

Join us as we explore the significance of this shloka and its context within the grand narrative of the Bhagavad Gita.
