Lê Dung was born on June 5, 1951. Although it is now 21 years since her passing, Lê Dung will long be remembered as one of Vietnam’s great singers and a pioneer of Vietnamese Opera as well as the Popular Music genre.
This is a song from Lê Dung's 1997 album "Tiếng Thời Gian" written by Hoàng Dương (12/10/1933-30/01/2017) in 1953. He had fallen in love with a Hanoi lady. Late one night, hearing the sound of bombardment of Hanoi, he remembered his lover. Overcome with emotion, he began writing "Towards Hanoi". The lyrics and music poured out, and he finished the song that night. The song touched many of those who lived in Hanoi, and also those living away from their beloved city. It was not performed publicly at first, but eventually in 1954, the song became popular and famous, with Kim Tuoc's voice at the fore. In 1954, it was published by Tinh Hoa Southern. In 1994, it was included in "Half a century of Vietnamese song".

Le Dung and I were poor, and poor children who lack adequate food and clothing. But we love singing very much." She performed everywhere, sang on school sports, in the mines, singing for soldiers to fight and defend the northern sky. During her career, she became one of Vietnam's foremost Sopranos.

Lyrics

English Translation
Hanoi, head to the distant city
The lights were burning everywhere, and the color of the clothes flew with the wind
Hanoi, the long moonlight town dreaming
Soft willow making the wind poetic and unrivaled
Hanoi, the happy days are gone,
Knowing who has missed her,
End of the moment of separation
Hanoi, the legendary figure is so beautiful,
Hair swears to drop the wind
Maybe he came back that day
One day of the war season,
The bird is far away from the flock and dull by the sky
One day tattered flowers,
looking forward to ... far away from the figure
Hanoi, lake water is a mirror,
Summer sunshine on the lips, peaceful sound of clogs
Hanoi, life's lifetimes want to let go
Remember the people who fell in the nights
Message according to thousands of birds

Hanoi, childhood days passed,
roof school phoenix flowers and flowers
Russian silhouette.
Hanoi, the eyes are filled with ecstasy,
The hair swears to let go of the wind, believe in his day
A cruel day of war,
The fire and smoke sank and went to the shore
A fresh pink flower blossom leaves
Singing love songs speaks passionately
Hanoi, know people still look forward,
Towards anyone else or not the days away from the river.
Hanoi, the dew winds rise
Some people silently watch the clouds float,
How much to remember
