Freight train traffic in Baltimore has slowed to a crawl since The Key Bridge collapse event and subsequent port closure. So, we get Amtrak/MARC instead until the port reopens, hopefully at the end of the month. I filmed 20 trains! This is part 1.
I headed out to Martin MARC station and captured the crane and forklift headed over to Tradepoint Atlantic to help process bridge debris. They donated the use of 5 acres for it.
I was hoping the NS local was working Chesapeake Industrial and was not disappointed when I saw them. When they finally head north we get a GP38-2 with a horn salute! It sounds like the flight deck of an aircraft carrier because the A-10s were running their engines.
The rest are Amtrak Acela Express and Northeast Regionals moving fast. We will not see these Acela train sets much longer. Sometime later in 2024, they will be replaced with the new consists as they have exceeded their sevice life. Amtrak is testing them now on the NEC.
