After the Battle of the Bands, many of the members of the FAMU and ASU marching bands had some fun dancing to DJ music:    • FAMU & ASU at AACSA's Juneteenth in d...

The African American Community Service Agency (AACSA) of San Jose (https://www.sjaacsa.org/) has produced the San Jose Juneteenth celebration for many years, the one on June 15, 2024 being the 41st overall and the 2nd of hopefully many years to come of having an HBCU marching band (or two) come to San Jose for the celebration. I am just a spectator who is not involved in the production of the event (other than being a Lifetime Legacy member of the AACSA to support their good works). When recording, as a tall person I try to be respectful of other spectators around me by not blocking their view. Also, I like to see the differnt faces and hear closely each instrument of each band member, especially when they are doing some moves. So, I apologize for not always being in the best location for sound quality, my intent in recording was only to capture the joy of the event while not getting in other people's way, not to try get the best sound quality.

I am an alumnus of San Jose State University (SJSU) which is just a few blocks from where this battle occurred on South First Street in downtown San Jose. I assume to keep travel shipping costs lower, Alabama State University borrowed some large instruments from SJSU which is why the logo on the bass drum matches my YouTube avatar. Milan R. Balinton, the Executive Director of the AACSA as well as many who have worked at and are working at the AACSA are alumni or students of SJSU, so there is a good connection between these two local institutions.
