Indian English poet. He is known as the father of Modern English poetry. In this poem he narrates about an incidentt happened in his childhood. When he was a little boy his mother was stung by a scorpion. Neighbours and housemates were searched the scorpion everywhere in the house. it was raining continously for 10 hours. Poet's mother cried with pain. At last a holy man reached their house and he uttered some incantations. His mother got well and she thanked God because the scorpion only biteher and avoid her children.
