In this video learn about
Learn all about Mitochondria. Mitochondria is a cell organelle, which is discovered, by Kolliker and the term mitochondria given by Benda. Mitochondria is called powerhouse of the cell because it produces ATP for the cell. The structure of mitochondria involves two membranes which are outer membrane and the inner membrane the space between two membranes are called inter membrane space. The inner membrane fold inwards and make Cristae. The matrix or the fluid in the mitochondria is called mitrochondrial Matrix. Besides that mitochondria also has a circular DNA and its own ribosomes because of that mitochondria can produce its own protein. That is why it is called semi autonomous organ. The oxidative metabolism also occurs in mitochondria after glycolysis the TCA cycle, and ETC Also occurs in mitochondria.on the inner mitochondrial membrane. There are some ATP synthase or oxysomes are present, which synthesises ATP.
Other than that there are many functions, which mitochondria performs.
I explained in very easy language and oraganised way.
