The term Chollimah originates from the Chinese mythological flying horse. The word Chollimah can be translated as “thousand li horse,” referring to its ability to travel 1,000 li (4000 kilometers) in a single day. It also was said that it could not be ridden by any person.
This song is about the Chollimah movement (천리마운동), which was a state-sponsored movement intended to promote the rapid economic development of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
