shanoa is my favorite character ever of all time in anything ever, so much so that i technically named myself after her, i consider her to be very close to my heart, etc. so with this song i decided to write about her grief over albus (i keep writing about cv characters who have Brother-Related Angst lol...), repression of traumatic memories, and reminiscing as best she can on their turbulent childhood in ecclesia- for those who aren’t familiar with order of ecclesia, it’s essentially a dracula-worshipping cult formed under the guise of being dedicated to saving humanity, and shanoa was basically raised and conditioned to be a sacrifice to the count. as for the composition, i wanted to focus on more “plucky” staccato sounds... and wrote in my FAVORITE time signature, 6/8 :) i wanted to make something that sounds like a legend being recounted by the one who lived to tell the tale. this ended up with a somewhat “celtic sounding” influence, mostly subconsciously, aaaaand now i’m feeling slightly bad for not using avanna for her intended genre. maybe some other time...?

i tried to experiment a bit with the tuning more than i usually do, to really push prima’s operatic tone and her more dynamic qualities. ive been slightly unsatisfied with how simplistic my tuning process has always been, and i think ive ended up with something a lot more expressive and emotional, and got myself to unlearn some pesky tuning habits ive had for YEARS

unfortunately i think ive kind of lost interest in songwriting again so this will probably be the last original for a little while, my apologies! hopefully you still enjoy the stuff i did put out
