This is a profile story of Tufail Ahmad, a Pakistani-American community leader and president of the international trading company Euro-American Shipping & Trade. He is the co-founder of the Montgomery County Muslim Council and the Maryland Muslim Council. Mr. Ahmed's peace building work focuses on enhancing dialogue among different ethnic and religious communities, from India and Pakistan to the U.S. Muslim and Jewish communities. Tufail Ahmad is deeply involved with the Democratic Party in Montgomery County and has also been serving as Chair of District 15 Caucus and as a Precinct Chair. In 2004, he received the Dean Peacock Award for Precinct Official of the Year. Tufail Ahmad contested for the seat of County Council At-Large in the 2006 Elections, though he could not succeed but bagged 10,000 votes from people of all ethnicities living in his community. Tufail Ahmad is the success story of a Pakistani American who is a source of inspiration to many young Pakistani Americans who are seeking to have a voice of their own in American political system.
