TUSCALOOSA, AL- The University of Alabama is out with the old and in with the new Julia Tutwiler Hall.

Julia Tutwiler was born in Tuscaloosa and was an advocate for women in prison and education. This will be the third dorm at UA that bears her name.

The first was built in 1914 and was located where the Rose Administration building resides. The second dorm, built in 1960, will be in use through July. It houses nearly 2,000 women among its 13 floors, and stands near Bryant-Denny Stadium.
