πŸ“ DESTINATION: The Hermit's Cave, Griffith NSW.
❓❓ WHY: To explore the intriguing story of Valerio Ricetti who built himself a "castle" among the caves of Scenic Hill overlooking Griffith. A feat or physical endurance, and yet a lonely isolated life for a man remembered as a hermit and recluse.
πŸ“† WHEN: Griffith is pretty chilly in Augus when I visited, which made me wonder how Ricetti managed up there in his caves.
πŸš— WHERE: The caves ae a heritage listed archaeological site, on Scenic Hill at Griffith. Follow Scenic Drive and it is well signposted.
🍽 FOOD: There are some picnic tables up there if you want to take a picnic, but it's not far to the centre of town.
🚻TOILETS: No toilets on site.
πŸ’ͺ DIFFICULTY: This is a moderate walk, with some steps and some uneven ground.
β™Ώ ACCESSABILITY: No wheelchair access.
