I wrote this song when I was in an abusive relationship. I experienced loving an addict (or various mental issues), codependency, self-care, and how piano played such an important part of my journey. “Kaori Kawabuchi”
Kaori has been playing piano ever since she was 3, gifted with perfect pitch, she went on to study music in Japan. She found herself a job as a kindergarten teacher after she graduated from college, but she decided to pursue her dream of performing piano, jumped on the plane and started playing at front of people in Maui, Sydney, Australia, and also NY. While she spent 12 years in NY performing at various places, she auditioned for the piano player position at the gospel church. Even though she had never heard of any gospel song at that time, she passed the audition and became the only Japanese gospel church piano player in Queens, NY.

After 12 years in NY, she moves to Hawaii with her partner at that time, who was abusive to her. She spent years trying to recover from codependency. Now that she is free from years of painful relationship. She found herself again through her love and passion for piano, and finally released her first piano album “Kaori Kawabuchi Christmas Piano Album” in December 2020.

It was recorded at TH Production Recording studio, Engineered, Mixed, and mastered by Thomson Enos. The album includes 18 tracks, including one single which she wrote when she was experiencing extreme solitude and desperation when she was in an abusive relationship, called “You left me before Christmas”.

The album is currently available and downloadable on itunes store, apple music, spotify, apple music, Deezer, and Amazon Music. It’s available for purchase for a limited amount at Scratch Kitchen and Up Roll café Honolulu Hawaii

Performance in Hawaii
Kaori has performed as a pianist regularly at various places including The Ritz-Carlton Residences in Waikiki, Halekulani Hotel. Moana Surfrider, Vintage Cave Café, 53 By The Sea. She also performs at various events and live concerts with local groups.
