About #PlayYourParagon
~If you see it, you believe it, you do it.
This year we want to be the "see it", that encourages the "believe it" that supports the "do it".

When we were in high school a female string duo called Moxie Strings came into our classroom and rocked out on their electric cello and violin and Katie and I decided "we can do that?!" That is how we became the Accidentals, which in turn altered every part of our lives. It gave a couple of shy kids the confidence to create and relate. We were inspired to play guitar by St. Vincent and Kaki King, violin by Scarlett Rivera, and write songs by SEVERAL female artists. This winter we'll be releasing a new cover video every Wednesday for our #PlayYourParagon series. ~

Sometimes you find an album that carries you through life. May Erlewine's album Mother Lion is that for us. It breaks our heart, gives us strength, and brings us peace. When we were 15 and 16, we knew her as the Mother Lion of the Michigan music community - but also, as never one thing. When she joined us for our TIME OUT songwriters-in-the-round series, her stories - and her songs - literally brought us to tears. It is so amazing and crucial to have someone make that kind of impact on you when you start out so young. It has a way of influencing who you are then, and what kind of person you want to be.

We were at Nimble Wit Studios in Goshen, IN working on our new album and needed a break, so we played through this song. Nate Butler captured video on his iPhone and audio from his console and Shure microphones.

We'll be both be showcasing at Folk Alliance International Conference in New Orleans next week!
