Are you bummed because Jasper National Park’s backcountry permits have been all scooped up? We were too. Then, we discovered this hidden gem, where no permits are needed for backpackers!

My daughter and I chase a waterfall on our first backpacking trip into Alberta's Whitehorse Creek Wildland Park. This gem of a park did not disappoint! The beautiful views of the Rocky Mountain foothills, ice-cold glacier-fed creeks, and fewer crowds than its neighbour, Jasper National Park, made for a perfect first-time backpacking trip. Join us on day 1 of our trip from the trailhead to the waterfall.
