Canandaigua Lake, in the western Finger Lakes of New York, is one of the most scenic of these eleven, long, glacial grooves in the northern edge of the Allegheny Plateau. In this episode (220) of Walk in the Park, we’ll tour the northern portion of Canandaigua Lake from the City of Canandaigua on the the paddle-wheel steamboat replica, the Canandaigua Lady. While there, we’ll look at Squaw Island, one of only two island in the Finger Lakes (do you know what the other is?), and composed of a rare geological phenomenon called ocolites or “water biscuits.” Then we move down to the steep hills near the southern end of Canandaigua Lake, including South Hill and Bare Hill, rich in Seneca Indian heritage.

Walk in the Park is a weekly community access television series produced In Ithaca, NY at PEGASYS Community Media Center (http://pegasys.webstarts.com) of Spectrum TV, by Tony Ingraham, Owl Gorge Productions http://owlgorge.com.
