Could You Live on The Philippines Minimum Wage in Manila? 🇵🇭 (BGC vs Tondo)

In this video, we visit BGC and Tondo. To give you some background, BGC in Manila in The Philippines is the most high-end, wealthiest part of Manila, where as Tondo, especially the "slum" region, AKA Happy Land is the most disadvantaged community.

We see how far the minimum wage of 600 Pesos for manila goes in these 2 regions. As you would have expected in the wealthy BGC region 600 Pesos will only get a burger for 2 people, imagine working all day to go out on a burger date!

We even found a high class restaurant named Wolfgang's Steakhouse where some steaks were up around $250 USD or 23 days wages ...

We then headed to the Tondo region which although they have less and struggle a lot more, they have much more of a community feel. Plenty of street food and plenty of ways where you could buy affordable things.

Finally we go to Happy Land which is a "slum" for lack of better wording, or a squatters housing region. Here we spoke to a lovely lady Evelyn who cooked left over food from landfill to the locals for a very low price. She shows us the process of how the chicken comes in and how its washed, then fried. I was not game enough to eat it as I usually get sick, however I did purchase some so we could see how it was done and feed a couple of the locals who enjoy it.
