Often used as a decoration in traditional ironwork, the process of forging a leaf is actually quite straightforward. They are a great exercise in tapering, isolating, drawing down, and shaping and are suitable for a wide range of designs and applications, as well as being a staple of the blacksmithing craft.

I will be showing you the basic steps of turning stock steel into a leaf and developing it further to turn a forged leaf into a practical, and very attractive, product. The tools I use in this video are: Coke Forge, Rounding Hammer, Anvil, Cold Chisel, Fly Press, Dishing Tool, Leafing Hammer, Hot Cut, and a set of shop-bought pliers!
