Cerro La Choya although only 335 feet above sea level is the highest summit in the hills west of the small Mexican Beach resort town of Puerto Peñasco in Northwestern Sonora. This hike has no established trail although if you want to save yourself some milage I recommend starting at the zipline building nearby. The peak is marked by a small rusty cross and this hike also gives you the option of hiking along the rocky shoreline through tidepools with endless opportunity to see marine wildlife. the summit showcases 360° views of the entire city as well as the Gulf of California and the mountains and desert landscapes to the north. Definitely worth a morning hike if you're staying in the area!
