Filler does not own the rights to this film. This video file was found on a random hard drive; the documentary appears to have been ripped from a VHS and isn't in the best quality. We don't make any money off this upload. The documentary is shared here for educational purposes.

During the late '80s and 90's, New York City's squatter movement took control of a large swath of territory in the Lower East Side. This film is a remarkable historic artifact, as very little footage of the State's crackdown on this semi-autonomous neighborhood remains in circulation (let alone online)

The story of the Lower East Side squatters and their struggle against displacement will likely resonate with many here Pittsburgh. Our squatter's movement may feel like it's a long way from carving out an autonomous neighborhood, but let this film remind you that it's possible. We chose to upload this doc in the hope that this "lost" footage inspires folks to continue the struggle.

The doc is also a must-watch for anyone who's ever had a soft spot for Choking Victim or any of the crack rock steady bands; the story of C-Squat is legendary in some punk scenes, but should be remembered as simply one story of many from this forgotten insurgent movement.
