A Gata Comeu is a Brazilian telenovela produced by TV Globo and aired from April 15 to October 19, 1985, in 160 chapters.

Written by Ivani Ribeiro, with the collaboration of Marilu Saldanha, it was directed by José Carlos Pieri and Herval Rossano, also general director, under the supervision of Daniel Filho.

"A Gata Comeu", is a remake of the novel "A Barba-Azul", also written by Ivani Ribeiro for the extinct Rede Tupi and shown in 1974.

The feuilleton had the participation of Christiane Torloni and Nuno Leal Maia as protagonists of the soap opera, in addition to other great artists such as: Mauro Mendonça, Anilza Leoni, Bia Seidl, Deborah Evelyn, Fátima Freire and Danton Mello, among others.

In its original airing, it reached audience averages of 64 points (Rio de Janeiro) and 56 points (São Paulo).

It was redisplayed by Vale a Pena Ver de Novo from February 27 to July 28, 1989, replacing Gabriela and being replaced by Brega & Chique, in 110 chapters.

It was re-aired by Vale a Pena Ver de Novo from July 23 to December 7, 2001, replacing Você Decide and being replaced by História de Amor, in 100 chapters.

It was re-exhibited on the Video Show Novelão board on two occasions: the first from June 11 to June 15, 2012 and the second from January 19 to January 23, 2015, both in five chapters.

It was re-aired in full by Canal Viva from October 24, 2016 to April 28, 2017, replacing Mulheres de Areia and being replaced by Tieta at 3:30 pm.

The national soundtrack brought in its repertoire songs that were closely associated with the soap opera. The most remembered ones are: "Só pra o Vento" (Ritchie), main theme of Jô Penteado; "Friend of the Sun, Friend of the Moon" (Benito di Paula), theme by Professor Fábio; and "Comeu", a song by Caetano Veloso re-recorded by the Magazine group especially for the opening. The album cover would be stamped by Conceição, played by Dirce Migliaccio, but the track cover was stamped by a kitten.

The soap opera's international soundtrack was also one of the most outstanding of the decade, with songs that were widely played on the radio and became true classics of the 80s. Among the hits are "Heaven" (Bryan Adams), "Everytime You Go Away" (Paul Young), "I Was Born to Love You" (Freddie Mercury), "I Should Have Known Better" (Jim Diamond) and "Forever by Your Side" (The Manhattans), Jô and Fábio's theme, which was successful in Brazil thanks to the soap opera. A few days after its release, the disc was re-released in stores with the song "Smooth Operator" (Sade) replacing "Crazy for You", which had not been released by international representatives from Warner Music, the label to which Madonna belonged. The cover is stamped by actress Joana Medeiros, daughter of actress Maria Lucia Dahl, who was 14 years old at the time.
