We think the Tarland Trails in Aberdeenshire are "the best flow trails" we have ever ridden in the UK.
I will elaborate..
The trails are littered with jumps and doubles that are oh so perfectly sized for a majority of riders that you will hit some first time and others will require practice so they are instantly satisfying while encouraging multiple visits for progression and a feel of completion if you manage to string a perfect run together.
You do not have to crank in order to achieve the correct speed for the jumps but they do require correct technique to clear.
There are very few sections on any of the trails that require you to pedal to keep up the speed.
The berms vary in size and frequency to keep it interesting, and keep you on your toes and are so very satisfying to rail.
This for me is what makes perfect flow and they have achieved this in spades (probably with spades šŸ˜‚).

In order to get to the fun, the climbing is relatively short, meandering, pretty and not too steep at any point and the descents are an absolute blast no matter which track you choose. There are a few tech features thrown in to provide some variety but I have never been so heavily immersed in the ā€œflow stateā€ on any other collection of trails outside of bike park Wales.

With Hugo getting tired pretty quickly due to the overall high speeds we did not get to ride all the tracks. There is a blue and black jump line and Scalextric and Tomnaverie turns blue trails, we hope to get all trails rode next time.

The quality of design, build and materials used is clear as we visited on a Monday following a weekend of torrential rain that caused landslides in many parts of Scotland. We rode through one puddle that was the middle part of a rock double!!
On top of this, the local trail crew had spotted our post on instagram and took the time to ask if we had noticed any issues anywhere with the trails and saw that they were out the next day fixing small sections of damage - a staggering commitment to maintenance and the riders experience of the trails - we doth our cap ā€Ŗ@tarlandtrailsā€¬

Enjoy our take on these fabulous trails and then ring your riding buddies, get some dates in the diary and get your butts up to Tarland.
Make it a weekend to remember with Heartbreak ridge at Ballater or add in Aboyne for the ultimate bank holiday bonanza!!

We will be back very soon!!
