It is into the arms of Il Conte Belfiore that Violante eventually falls. Ugo Benelli, who sang the role, is a fine tenor, has a robust presence and is a resourceful actor. He impressed me more each appearance by his command of his characterization, and degree of involvement in it, and well as being wholly adequate vocally.
