The time eventually came to launch the kayak in search of jumbo Tog. Searched around a little ways offshore and didnt find anything too good or steady. Went in tight to shore and found more of the same. Went back out a little ways offshore and found some roaming schools of Seabass and caught quite a few on shads and on the crab. Eventually some Stripers and Blues popped up which was fun to watch though generally they were uncooperative. So by days end I was surprised to get so many nice seabass, but deflated from catching only a few decent togs.. and catching no worthy gamefish despite watching them aggressively attack right next to my kayak. Def had higher expectations for the togs but with so many cbass and being early season I am not surprised it was slow. Went kayak toggin once since and did a bit better. Generally fished 25-50' of water and just used 1/2oz and 3/4oz jigs with crab.
