This is a driving course that allows you to fully enjoy driving along the Shuto Expressway.
~ Course Information
Start from the Wangan Makuhari Parking Area on the Higashi-Kanto Expressway. After passing the Wangan Ichikawa Toll Gate, you will see Tokyo Disneyland on your left.
Further on, you will see the "Giant Ferris Wheel of Diamonds and Flowers" at Kasai Rinkai Park and the buildings of Tokyo looming ahead.
From Ariake Junction, turn left onto the Metropolitan Expressway No. 11 Daiba Line.
Immediately to your left is the Giant Ferris Wheel of Odaiba's Palette Town and the shining white Rainbow Bridge.
Beyond the bridge towers, the lights of countless buildings spread out in a panoramic view.
As you continue on, the colorful Tokyo Tower is on your left, and the Rainbow Bridge is momentarily reflected in the building on your right, making for the best view.
From the Hamazakibashi Junction, turn right onto the Tokyo Expressway (KK line) from the Tokyo Central Loop Route C1.
Passing the Shiodome Connecting Place, the route runs through the vicinity of Ginza with its rows of shining buildings.
From the Kyobashi Junction, merge back onto the Central Tokyo Loop Route C1.
The road goes up and down, passing corners to the right and left, and slipping into the Chiyoda Tunnel with Chidorigafuchi on the left.
The tunnel, bright as daylight, is quite a technical course with branches and mergers, as well as a series of left and right curves.
Once on the ground, running between buildings, one can briefly see Tokyo Tower reflected in the building on the left.
Coming back to the Hamazakibashi Junction again, the Yurikamome (train) crosses in front of you.
After passing through curves on both sides, descending the hill, and passing the Shiodome Tunnel, the train enters a semi-underground winding course.
My car goes through 14 underpasses, and beyond that, from the Edobashi Junction, passes through the Hakozaki Junction and continues on to the Metropolitan Expressway No. 6 Mukojima Line.
After driving for a while, the Tokyo Skytree peeks out between the buildings in front of you.
On the lower left is the colorful Sumida River bridges, and on the right shines Tokyo's famous golden object (flamme d'or).
I had checked the traffic situation in advance, but the traffic was jammed due to emergency construction. But construction jams are one of the specialties of the Metropolitan Expressway.
After passing through the traffic jam, we joined the C2 of the Chuo Loop Route from Horikiri Junction.
As we continued through the Kosuge Junction and drove along the Arakawa River, two trains appeared on the left side of the road at the same time.
In front of you is the sight of a series of red tail lights in the distance.
My car then turns left at the Kohoku Junction, crosses the Goshikizakura-Ohashi Bridge, and passes under Oji Station to the Kumanocho Junction.
Then we dive into the Yamate Tunnel, which is 18.2 kilometers long and the second longest tunnel in the world.
This time, however, about halfway through the Yamate Tunnel, it branches off into the looped Ohashi Junction.
The tunnel goes from about 35 meters underground to about 36 meters above the ground, and then rises 71 meters in a single movement.
After the junction, the road joins the Metropolitan Expressway No. 3 Shibuya Line.
After passing the Sangenjaya exit, you will reach the goal of this drive.
