Response-

People’s choice in relation to food consumption continues to change with time. While many people are relying on instant food these days, these have substantial demerits in my opinion. In this essay, I would discuss both merits and demerits and would justify and elaborate my opinion by giving relevant examples on how readymade foods have more demerits than merits.
Many people opt to eat ready-made foods because these are easy and quick to prepare. As the saying goes, “Time is money”, people have no time to prepare fresh meals these days. Working people organise their lives by storing their food in advance. In Japan, for example, people preserve most seasonal foods for the remaining year. Cooking five day meal altogether becomes easy with instant food as these have longer shelf life.
On the other hand, instant foods lack a lot of nutritional value. For example, the ramen noodles, which are full of sodium, lack a lot of beneficial minerals and vitamins making them a poor food choice nutrition wise. Additionally, instant foods lack freshness and taste as well. Fast foods break down quickly resulting in increase of blood sugar. Research proves that many issues such as indigestion, allergies and diabetes are also triggered due to excessive use of instant foods.
All in all, people may be using this food in modern days, but it would be wrong to admit that these offer more merits. In my opinion in order to achieve good wellbeing, instant food should be totally avoided or only used occasionally.
