A modern U.S. Navy aircraft carrier, conducting exercises in the Pacific Ocean. During a routine maneuver, the ship and its crew are mysteriously transported back in time to December 6, 1941, the day before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. As the crew of the Nimitz realizes they have been sent to the past, they face the moral and strategic dilemma of whether to intervene in the upcoming attack, which could significantly alter the course of history. Commander Matthew Yelland (played by Kirk Douglas) and his crew must decide whether to use their advanced technology and knowledge of future events to prevent the attack or to allow history to take its natural course.
