We always make things 10x harder for ourselves than they need to be.

Just a reminder that the Annapolis Boat Show is next weekend, and if you use our code of MJSAIL24, you'll get $10 off your daily ticket!

Speaking of boat shows, you know that we use them as a way to step aboard numerous catamarans to get ideas of specific design ideas we like. In all honesty, our finished catamaran is going to be a smorgasboard of tweaks that we've taken from Balance, HH, Kinetic, Outremer, Fountain Pajot, etc.

One of the things that we've talked about for the past few years is the door frames, with Matt asking me to pay attention to all the boats we've walked through to see if I want wood or white frames. It's hard to use boats with liners as an example, since they don't have bare hulls leading to the door frames. But, the Kinetic had faired hulls, just like we will, and I remember falling in love with the sleek and understated design of their interior, including the doors with the matching white frames to the hulls.

Once I told Matt I did not want wood, the project became to build our our frames from fiberglass, which would then get bonded on and faired and painted with the rest of the hull. Easier said that done.

Through this video we'll show you the various steps we've had to go through, just to get our frames to the primer stage. (Which I was hoping to have done by the publishing of our video, but it looks like it's still a few days away.)

From making 'molds' to fiberglassing, to then cutting and fitting, bonding, sanding, fairing....these have become a pain in our arse which is taking up way too much of our time. They're not our daily focus...but they have gotten attention from at least one of us every single day for the past two weeks.

Will it be worth it in the end? I have to hope so!!

We hope you enjoy!
