"It's the same thing in jazz: you practice all your life; you think all your life about it; all the human emotions, the human experiences, going into a bank in your head that you're going to use when you need it, if you call it up. And some days you can't. Like any athlete will somedays he isn't "hot". And it's the same thing as jazz musicians."
