You guys know I'm an impersonator and huge fan of Bono and U2. Well...a few years ago, a dutch film producer - Steven de Jong - asked me to write a song for a movie he was making about a Frisian giant (Grutte Pier...2,10m) who fought with an army of farmers, against the Dutch suppressor for a free and independant Friesland. They killed his wife and kids in a horrible way so he was raging and killed every Dutch guy who stood in his way.

Back in the days (about1515) Friesland was much bigger then nowadays...it stretched far into Germany. Anyway...Steven didn't know that I'm Frisian too hehe but my problem was...I never wrote any song before. I'm just a huge U2 fan singing the best I can to pay tribute to Bono and his mates. But I thought...what the heck...let's go for it. I even got a small roll in the film being one of the bad guys hehe.

First I started to write in English which is not my mother tongue and asked my friend Luca Genta to produce the song with me. Luca is brilliant as it comes to producing ancient Celtic (film) music. Steven specifically asked for a song that breathes the Celtic atmosphere...but yes...I like U2 so it became a mix with many influences from my Irish heroes...with English lyrics. I asked some of my bandmates from U2two to play the song and after a long, long time of mixing and mastering...I discovered that all the other songs for the film were written in Frisian... so the English lyrics didn't fit with the rest of the songs on the movie album. So...because I'm Frisian after all, I wrote the song in Frisian...and this is the result.
Please be nice to me...it's my first song ;-)
