Climbing Information
Macedonia is a small country with big opportunities. Land with beautiful mountains, forest, lakes and rivers, located in hard of Balkans. Beside gorges’ natural beauties, including fantastic limestone crags, you will find a special blend of history and culture. The Land of Alexander de grade is a place where you will find climbing locality, located on different side of the country. Somewhere you will climb above the mountain, somewhere in canons, somewhere on the Lake coast, but after all you will go home with god satisfaction because you had climb on very well bolted sport climbing routes, marked and easy trail coming.
There has been sport climbing in Macedonia since the 1980’s and the first competition in which Macedonian climbers competed was held in Split in Croatia in 1986. In 1990 the first sport route was bolted in Macedonia in Matka, named Jumbo Jet (7a). Now, there are around 300 sport climbers and the numbers of routes you should reed in this edition. Besides the sport climbing is one bouldering is that has an enormous potential for the future. Around town Prilep there is an area of some 7000 square meters packed with granite boulders.
In this edition of climbing guide are described all climbing areas in Macedonia. All climbing areas are with big opportunities and year by year new sport climbing routes are opened.
