September 10th is The Election Day in Delaware. Any New American who lives in Delaware and does not know this is not carrying their fair share of burdens of citizenship. Democracy has both Benefits and Burdens that must be carried by every Citizen. The tragedy of commons occurs when new Americans carry fewer burdens and draw more benefits from democracy which is a heavy lift to maintain. Whenever a specific population does not participate in their civic responsibilities public services suffer and tgat population gets tacked with lowering property values whenever they become a majority. The US is built and sustained on volunteering: the US Army is a volunteer force, most firehouses are manned by volunteers, both Federal & State Credit Unions are run by volunteers, Elections staff are volunteers, School District Boards are volunteers, most State Congresses & Senates are paid so low they might as well be volunteer, and juries of peers are volunteers. You can see how a community in which few people volunteer for civic duty will steadily but gradually go to waste. You don't get paid and if you get a think of value you will end up in the slammer! We acknowledge that volunteering is expensive, but so is a nice well-kept neighborhood in a democratic country.
As a reminder here are the duties, responsibilities, and benefits of US citizenship, one cannot choose the benefits and leave the others:
Duties of American Citizenship:

3. Jury Duty:
Serving on a jury when called upon is both a duty and a privilege. It helps ensure a fair judicial system.
