James George is a retired Canadian diplomat, writer, environmental activist, and spiritual practitioner. During his diplomatic service he encountered numerous spiritual teachers, including the Dalai Lama, Krishnamurti, Thomas Merton, Yogaswami, Javad Nurbakhsh, Dudjom Rinpoche, and Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. For 60 years he has been a practitioner of the Gurdjieff Work and was a close disciple of the late Madame de Salzmann, G.I. Gurdjieff's primary student. In conversation with David Cherniack he talks about his meetings with some of the remarkable men and women he met during his long and brilliant life.
