NAKHAL FORT OMAN
Nakhal Fort is a large fortification in Al Batinah Region of Oman. It is named after the Wilayah of Nakhal. The fort houses a museum, operated by the Ministry of Tourism, which has exhibits of historic guns, and the fort also hosts a weekly goat market.
Located about 120 KM away from the capital Muscat in in Al Batinah Governorate, and known as The Palm Oasis, Nakhal Fort is one of the most popular and magnificent forts to visit in Oman after Nizwa Fort and Jibrin Castle. The exact date in which this ancient fort was built is unknown, but it is generally known to have been built in pre-Islamic times, i.e. more than 1500 years ago.
The fort’s architecture does not follow a particular pattern, as it was designed around an irregularly shaped rock. You'll find that some rock parts become part of the building. While the rooms at Nakhal Fort display a variety of traditional exhibits, showcasing how life went on during the old times; one of the guest rooms has a gorgeous ceiling featuring geometric designs and Arabic scriptures….
