Richmond is 498km west of Townsville & 408km east of Mount Isa
This was start of the Dinosaur Trail for us.
We stayed at the Richmond RV Park, visitors need to register at the information centre and fees are $5 for 3 nights, permits are to be displayed, must be self contained and black water is to be contained and emptied into the onsite dump point, potable water is also available.
Generators & pets are allowed.

We really enjoyed Kronosaurus Korner at the information centre. Showcasing over 1500 marine fossils & dinosaur specimens collected in the Richmond area from over 100 million years ago. The audio guides for self-paced tours are a great idea. The tour also includes an awesome theatrette presentation.

Lake Fred Tritton is a terrific addition to the town, all types of water activities are allowed on the lake and its stock with 18 different species of fish. Free BBQ’s and kids waterpark and playground.

Richmond’s fossil hunting sites for a self guided adventure or join the Kronosaurus Korner “digging at dawn” tour. This site is renowned for new amazing weekly discoveries.
