Sunil P Ilayidom is a cultural critic and writer. He has written many books and studies on Marxism, art, postmodernism and history. The orations delivered by Sunil P Ilayidom regarding the cultural history of Mahabharata was highly remarkable. Presently, he is a professor of Malayalam at Sree Sankaracharya Sanskrit University. Sunil P Ilayidom has penned several books including Adhiniveshavum Adhunikathayum, Kanvazhikal Kazhchavattangal, Uriyattam, Damitham, India Charithra Vignanam and Athmam Aparam Adhinivesham. He is the winner of Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award, Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Award, V K Unnikrishnan Award and Gurudarshana Award.
