Our first time in Portugal!

So after we drove through the Algarve to the westcoast of Portugal, we went north. without everything planned out, we just drove and stopped at cute towns on our way to lisbon and then to porto:

we are so grateful to have not been there whilst the wildfires, which are currently burning in portugal. we send our prayers!

✨ Lisbon
- old town
- oldest bookshop
- elvador de santa justa (you can buy a ticket to go up, but so many people are queuing and lisbon has many other pretty viepoints;)
- rua augusta (shopping street)
- praca do comercio (nothing special to see just a big place you will reach after you walk the rua augusta, just by the lake)
- pink street (for bars, and nightlife, usually starts between 23-00.00)
- lx factory (old factory buildings now there is a hostel, cool small shops and restaurants, obviously a bit expensive since it is a tourist attraction, but worth looking around)
- time out market (nice to eat with friends so everyone can take whatever, ot to try different dishes)
- alfama (a nice quarter to walk and explore, seems like the artist-y quarter)
- tram 28 (inexpensive but you need to wait between 1-2h, unique experience. there is tram 12 which takes some of the same route but is shorter overall)

✨Porto
- sao bento (trainstation with pretty tiles)
- time out market (smaller than in lisbon but still cool)
- ponte luis 1 (impressive! you can cross on the top or bottom deck and will reach villa nova do gaia)
- miraduoros (viewpoints; you can find them easy on google maps)
- ribeira (a quarter of porto just by the river, nice restaurants and pretty houses to see)
- gaia (restaurants, fleemarkets and a food market as well as the cable car, apart from the street at the riverside it‘s nothing too exeptional)
- rua flores (pretty street to stroll)
- rua da santa catarina (shopping street)
- mercado bolhao (huge food market, with tons of specialities from portugal)

we couldn’t decide which city we preferred, but i‘d say in lisbon there is more to see since also the old town and the recommended areas to visit are bigger and some are further apart, for which we didn’t have time.
both are perfect for a city trip! we will be back🥰
