We had a brake in the weather this afternoon so we headed up the Hakarimata ranges. This scenic walking track is in Ngaruawahia, about 15 to 20 minutes drive north from Hamilton.
The first part of the walk goes to the old town water reservoir (Waterworks walk) which in the 1900s supplied the town water supply for Ngaruawahia.
After seeing a waterfall and the reservoir we headed up the rest of the trail to the top viewing platform were you can see on a good day a view towards the coast and across to the Waikato basin down as far as Ruapehu.
In total there is 1349 steps to climb up and back down the same way.
