At RSPB Scotland's Lochwinnoch nature reserve the team are constantly working to improve the range of habitat for wildlife. The latest addition are new rafts in the loch. They provide a home for breeding birds, particularly Black-headed Gulls which once thrived here. The colony has shrunk over time but now these new homes are bringing the birds back to the loch.

In this video Warden Dan Snowdon outlines the trick process of getting the rafts in position in windy, wet weather. And there's a chance to see them doing an amazing job for nature a few weeks after installation.

The work to bring new rafts to Lochwinnoch
was supported by the
SUEZ Communities Fund through
the Scottish Landfill Communities Fund.
