I recently took my wheelchair on an plane for the first time. It was a complicated experience, made more difficult by Virgin Airlines and their mismanagement and inconsiderate way of treating disabled customers.
From a disrespectful employee on their Special Assistance line, to no reliable way to discover vital information about their capacity for storing wheelchairs, to a profound lack of communication, Virgin Airlines continually caused me distress and made me feel like flying was not something I, as a wheelchair-user, was able to do.
I do not recommend Virgin Airlines for people with mobility needs. My experience has taught me that they do not have the infrastructure in place to handle mobility needs, and their staff do not have the training to communicate effectively.
