As the season shifts from summer to fall and the weather cools off, it is time to think about fall projects. The ground in my garden is very hard to dig in the dry summer, but after a few weeks of rain then it is easier to dig. I can often be found outside working in the pouring rain! The planned project for the fall of 2024 is the design and planting of the new chicken run garden. The area is about 6 feet by 15 feet and was the run for the neighbour's chickens for over 20 years. After a land survey determined this area was ours the chickens were moved to a new run. I was very surprised how quickly the weeds grew! The area doesn't get a great deal of sun so I think a nice variety of shrubs would look nice, we will have to wait and see what I come up with.
