Cats, Cats, Cats - Catamarans are all the rage these days in the offshore center console fishing world. Entries from Freeman, Invincible, Sea Hunter and others has caused many to re-think what the idea offshore center console looks like.

The advantages of a Cat are undeniable: they typically offer a superior ride to a same-sized mono hull; their beam is carried forward meaning a lot of more square feet available to anglers; and they are typically more efficient than an equal sized monohull. Negatives? You do need to get used to the ride, including the way they turn (more like a car than a boat) and you do lose headroom in the Console; and until recently, price as the Freeman/Sea Hunter/Invincible Cats are out of reach for most new boat buyers.

Enter Dave East. Dave has a long history in the boat building industry and for years served as boating editor of Florida Sportsman magazine and hosted a popular series called "Best Boat."

Dave has acquired the mold to an Australian Cat builder known as Kevlacat and the Eastward Horizon 3000 was born.

This video is a factory tour of Eastwards boat facility in Fort Pierce, Florida and Dave goes over how these boats are built and how he's able to keep the costs down.

Hope you enjoy.
