Laurence Fishburne has had a colorful career thus far with roles under his belt from The Matrix, Boyz in the Hood, What's Love Got to Do With It, and even became the first African American to portray Othello in a motion picture by a major studio when he appeared in the 1995 film adaptation of the Shakespeare play -- and now he's on Sway in the Morning to talk about the new Nelson Mandela series on BET, Madiba.

Leading the cast as he stars as Mandela, the three-part saga will air February 1, 8 and 15, 2017 on BET.

While in-studio, Fishburne also reveals that, he was "consciously trying to put the first hip hop gangster on screen" with his King of New York film.

Watch above as Laurence Fishburne opens up about all of his classic films.
