Canis Minor is a very simple constellation with only two stars in its star pattern and it is very easy to find when you use Orion. Canis Minor is associated with several mythological stories, but it's most commonly linked to a small hunting dog that accompanied Orion, the great hunter, on his adventures. In Greek mythology, Orion was a giant and a skilled hunter who had a loyal hunting companion, Canis Major (represented by the star Sirius), which was a larger and more prominent constellation than Canis Minor.
