This is Palau, lavish green islands surrounded by a lot of sea.
And this is Blue Corner, Palau´s most famous divesite.
At Blue Corner, you can see tons of big animals on each dive. And - you see all these sharks, jacks, snappers interact with each other.
During their spawning aggregations the Moorish idols are tracked by groups of whitetip reefsharks.
And when the reefsharks and the Moorish idols calm down again, it´s the perfect moment for what? For the beach.
Ulong Island.
An important location in Palau´s history and not because the TV show Survivor was produced on this beach. No. It was back in 1783 when natives from Palau met English Captain Henry Wilson and the crew of the Antelope. Their very first contact with people from the western world.
Palau´s to-do-list for scuba divers is very long and the next stop is a must see.
The Jelly fish lake. First you meet only few specimen. Then you see the full Armada.
They don´t only look like Millions of jelly fish, they are in fact millions of jellyfish.
The harbour of Malakal is home of some very special dive locations. Part One: the Chandelier Cave.
Chandelier Cave is a cave system made up of four separate underwater chambers.
Under water, each chamber is connected to the other and each can be entered.
When leaving Chandelier cave you better turn off your lights.
Palau´s territory consists of 356 islands. One of them is called Koror, also the namegiver of Palau´s biggest town. Koror is also known as the world capital of gas stations. But that´s just a rumour probably...
One thing is certain – this town is not the perfect place for loosing weight, in particular when you think that ‘ Fish are friends ‘.
The German channel. Some diveguides hesitate to mention the M-word during their briefings, not really necessary.
As a diver in Palau, you will see this place a couple of times. It´s not a classic beauty, but you will encounter a lot of big animals, many of them at cleaning stations.
And sometimes, some times, the manta rays just make your jaw dropping down to the seafloor.
You thought you wouldn´t need a weatherproof jacket on Palau? Mistake…
And now: diving close to the dive center part two: Wrecks.
Most of the wrecks you see in Palau are Japanese, which sunk during World War 2.
Like this, the Helmet wreck. For good reasons also known as the depth charge wreck.
This one however, a Chinese vessel, sunk just a couple of years ago. Pretty obvious to see is the early growth of corals and invertebrates.
Like most of these sunken warships also the Chuyo Maru was bombed during the US-operation Desecrate One in 1944.
Wreck enthusiast might call the Chuyo Maru the prototype of a mysterious ghostship. More realistic people might say that visibility here is just too bad.
But enough of dark war relicts. Let´s get back to the beach.
This is Two dogs island. For some people also known as Two drinks island. A place you will remember on your first day back in the office.
Isn´t this what divers like so much? Big wet holes.
Divesites like Blue Holes, Virgin Blue Hole and Sias tunnel have to be done when you stay in Palau.
Easy cave dives with amazing panaroma views.
At places like Big drop off or Ulong channel, Palau shows a different face again.
The biodiversity is really amazing. You can see that Palau is located in the coral triangle of southeast asia.
This was Palau, lavish green islands surrounded by a lot of sea. And now Palau, we give you the hook and the ovation.
