The following video is about how to repair a broken exhaust manifold stud. While changing an exhaust manifold on a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria, one of the exhaust studs broke off trying to turn it loose. The video begins with making the broken stud flush with the cylinder head, drilling the broke bolt, and ending with tapping new threads. Hopefully, you do not need the information in this video, but if you do, the steps are detailed. Below is a timestamp of various stages on the repair so it can be easily accessed quickly by all.
1. From 00:00 to 00:25 is the introduction to the video before the repairs begin.
2. From 00:26 to 02:15, the broken manifold stud is cut and ground to lessen the amount of
drilling required and to gain enough access to use the drill.
3. From 2:16 to 2:59 a 1/8 inch drill bit gets cut down to use with a right angle drill. Shortening
the drill bit makes enough room to drill the broken stud.
4. From 3:00 to 3:20, the right angle drill that will do the work of drilling gets shown.
5. From 3:21 to 4:05, drilling commences on the broken exhaust stud.
6. From 4:06 to 7:15 the drilling goes through a series of drill bits ending with a 5/16 drill bit.
7. From 7:16 to 14:55, the procedure of tapping new threads gets explained and shown for the
whole process.
8. From 14:56 to 15:55, a bolt is turned in and tightened in the freshly cut threads to check for
functionality.
9. The video closes from 15:56 to 16:22.
