Our today’s interviewee:
Zbigniew Zaborowski (born in 1928) was a member of the Polish Peasants' Battalions and the Home Army in the region of Opole Lubelskie during World War II. After the wat he joined the Freedom and Independence organization.

Following the liberation of Opole Lubelskie, the communists gave the residents of the Zagrody village access to German weapons. It was a trap: those who took the weapons were being watched and were later arrested for illegal possession of firearms.

The second conspiration began and Zbigniew Zaborowski joined the resistance. One time his friends brought him along to a mission: the objective was to kill two functionaries of the Security Office and their families. Zaborowski protested against the killing of the families and the commandant hit him in the head with a colt. The mission failed, the soldiers could not get into the apartment occupied by the targets. The commandant was so angry that he gave the order to shoot Zbigniew. Warned by a friend, Zaborowski fled into the forest.

The situation in the country was getting more and more dangerous. Following some conversations with his father and his former commander, Zaborowski decided that it would be best to flee to the West. To that end, he made his way to Wrocław...
