The 2025 Volkswagen ID. Buzz is a major new model for the German car brand. As part of the fully electric ID. vehicle line-up, it's charged with taking VW well into the the 21st century. In fact, the new mid-size van is effectively a zero-emissions reinterpretation of the famous Kombi, which has been beloved by adventurers and, more generally, enthusiasts, since 1949.

Needless to say, expectations are high for the ID. Buzz, which is available as a commercial vehicle or a people mover with a short or long wheelbase. In fact, there's even a high-performance flagship, dubbed GTX. As such, buyers are well and truly spoilt for choice.

In this expert review, CarsGuide Senior Journalist Tom White travels to Europe to get an early taste of the ID.Buzz in its long-wheelbase and GTX forms to find out if Australian adventurers should wait for its local launch late this year. After all, there's nothing on the market quite like it.
