Hymns: ‘How lovely is thy dwelling place’. Psalm 84 and ‘O how good it is’.
Bible reading Acts 16: 1 to 15.

PRAISE 1
How lovely is Your dwelling place,
O Lord of hosts to me.
My soul is longing and fainting
the courts of the Lord to see;
my heart and flesh, they are singing
for joy to the living God:
how lovely is your dwelling place,
O Lord of hosts to me!

2 Even the sparrow finds a home
where he can settle down;
and the swallow, she can build a nest
where she may lay her young
within the courts of the Lord of hosts,
my King, my Lord, and my God:
and happy are those who are dwelling where
the song of praise is sung!

3 And I’d rather be a door-keeper and only stay a day,
than live the life of a sinner
and have to stay away;
for the Lord is shining as the sun,
and the Lord, He’s like a shield –
and no good thing does He withhold
from those who walk His way.

4 How lovely is Your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts to me.
My soul is longing and fainting
the courts of the Lord to see;
my heart and flesh, they are singing
for joy to the living God:
how lovely is your dwelling place,
O Lord of hosts to me!

Jonathan Asprey (after Psalm 84). Irish Presbyterian Hymnbook no. 171

PRAISE 2
1 Oh how good it is
When the family of God
Dwells together in spirit
In faith and unity.
Where the bonds of peace,
Of acceptance and love
Are the fruit of His presence
Here among us.

So with one voice we'll sing to the Lord
And with one heart we'll live out His word
Till the whole earth sees
The Redeemer has come
For He dwells in the presence of His people.

2 Oh how good it is
On this journey we share
To rejoice with the happy
And weep with those who mourn.
For the weak find strength
The afflicted find grace
When we offer the blessing
Of belonging.

So with one voice we'll sing to the Lord
And with one heart we'll live out His word
Till the whole earth sees
The Redeemer has come
For He dwells in the presence of His people.

3 Oh how good it is
To embrace His command
To prefer one another
Forgive as He forgives.
When we live as one
We all share in the love
Of the Son with the Father
And the Spirit.

So with one voice we'll sing to the Lord
And with one heart we'll live out His word
Till the whole earth sees
The Redeemer has come
For He dwells in the presence of His people.

So with one voice we'll sing to the Lord
And with one heart we'll live out His word
Till the whole earth sees
The Redeemer has come
For He dwells in the presence of His people.
