The GOAT Of Beyblade

My favorite character within the Metal Series and in my opinion is consistently the best written. Although my favorite story arc in the entire story isn’t even related to Kyoya, it goes without saying this guy is my sweet glorious king and be warned that there will be a lot of glazing in this video. Now before Kyoya became the GOAT we all know and love he originally was just, kinda a loser. Bro led a group called the face hunters where they still point and bully children, because it’s fun? Kyoya doesn’t really do this directly but he does give the orders and is usually just sitting on his ass waiting for someone strong to show up. And that’s when he meets none other than Gingka Hagane. The new kid in town who’d go on to solo Kyoya's whole squad with no hesitation, which would begin to peak his interests. Inevitably leading into these two battles where Kyoya would not only have the advantage but would be holding Kenta's Beyblade hostage. Even despite the odds and how far he was willing to go, Pegasus wins leaving Kyoya and Leone to process their L. Which leads into a man named Doji arriving who, like Kyoya, wants to take down Gingka, and he’d trick bro into taking his training program and becoming stronger since he thought it was a way to ensure Gingka's defeat. This man suffered probably the only real L he’s ever taken and he’s willing to climb cliffs and fight coyotes to get his get back. Even at this point in the series little me was lowkey rooting for him to win or atleast do decent. I'm sorry Gingka is just not as cold. Anyway after coming back stronger and realizing his old crew fell off and Benkei betrayed him, he’d go on to bully Benkei along with Kenta, and he’d fight Gingka once again in a battle that was really intense but in the end Gingka still won. Doji after his project failed would show his true colors and dispose of him, leading into Kyoya now wanting his revenge and reluctantly helping Gingka and the others to take him down. This would be the start of Kyoya slowly being on team Gingka with him helping them fight two of dojis goons, was with the others trying to find Gingka and was the first to call out Hyoma. After this point in the series as we know the Battle Bladers event would be announced with Kyoya being the first person to gather all the points, and wins both of his battles with relatively no difficulty. He fights some fodder dark nebula and son Benkei but his hardest fight would be in the semi finals , that being against Ryuga. Which in my opinion is easily the best scrap in Beyblade. These two just go blow for blow with their spirits manifesting as their bodies along with Ryuga going over his limit, leading into the dark power taking control and legit stealing Kyoya's soul. But even before this moment Kyoya pushed Ryuga over the edge and gave us one of the greatest performances against Ryuga. And right before losing we see how he wants Gingka to see how strong he’s gotten, showing how he really does acknowledge Gingka and he isn't just blatantly weaker. Gingka even in the final fight needed Kyoya and everyone else’s power to even stand up to bro. And it gets a lot more evident in masters which I will now get into. Now Metal Masters is where Kyoya isn’t really in the main story for the most part, but even despite his lack of screen time he always somehow stopped on business and stole the show. Like in Metal Fury he definitely has more screen time but it seems like narratively they just don’t really take the character to a new direction. At best I can say he’s a more advanced version of what he was in masters since he started derailing again but picked it back up. In all honesty though this arc to me just seems kinda weak, especially when you see what other characters go through that I’ve talked about like Masamune or Kenta. Regardless, I still think what they did fits very well with Kyoya especially with two specific scenes. The first being Kyoya defending Ryuga's honor which to me was a really nice touch, the rivalry between these 3 was always so special and I’m glad we got to see more of these two rather than gingka vs one or the other. And the other scene being when Kyoya suggests to Gingka that they all give him their bey spirits. If this isn’t the most full circle moment in the series then I don’t know what is, I don’t gotta explain to you why this scene hits. After Ragos defeat as well, this man Kyoya still doesn’t stop there, as he’d go on to beat every single legendary blader one by one, before then challenging Gingka to a final battle, where like with Rocky vs Apollo in Rocky 3, ends with the fight just starting.
